About Apple eMate 300
In 1997, Apple launched eMate 300. It is a derivative of Newton which is intended for schools. In Apple’s mind, it is about offering a computer that is easy to use and inexpensive, for the education market. Apple eMate included a keyboard, a grayscale display and a stylus. It was equipped with an infrared link, an RS232 socket and a very long autonomy.
Its rounded design inspired that of the iBook and its shell shape.
The market presence of Apple eMate 300 was very brief, with the cessation of marketing of Newton in 1998.
Apple organized training sessions in 1997 for future eMate 300 users. Each participant wore a badge with the words “Find your eMate”. A sticker indicated the first name of the participant preceded by the letter e, thus recalling the name of the eMate. This badge, now very rare, is also available on our store.
The Apple eMate lapel pin is a representation of the computer. The pin is gold, the screen is dark green (the color of eMate) and bears the two golden logos of the brand. On the left, the Apple computers logo and on the right the Newton logo. On the back, a grid and the word CHINA in the lower part.
This lapel pin is mint.
